State emphasizes motorcycle safety

Promoting safe driving habits by motorists and motorcyclists is a key element of the state's promotion of National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.

The Alabama Department of Transportation along with other state agencies, motorcycle clubs, businesses, safety groups and state and local law enforcement are reminding drivers and riders that motorcycle safety is a shared responsibility.

Transportation Director John Cooper stresses motorcycle riders and motorists must share the road to remain safe.

"As a matter of safety, it is necessary for motorcycle riders and drivers of other types of vehicles to use safe driving habits," Cooper said. "To prevent injuries and deaths on Alabama's roadways, motorcyclists and motorists must be vigilant in their efforts to share the road and ensure everyone's safety."... Read More
