Man charged with assaulting Florence officer | News
FLORENCE, AL (WAFF)- Florence Police arrested a man accused of assaulting an officer.
Charles Raymond Nixon is charged with assault, and he also faces drug charges.
Investigators said he assaulted a Florence police officer during a traffic stop on Monday.
Officer Zak Maxwell had a K-9 named Rex with him, along with a sensor to release Rex.
Investigators said when Nixon hit the officer, that officer hit the sensor and Rex stopped Nixon.
That officer spent part of the day at ECM Hospital but is expected to be okay.
