Florence armed robbery suspect taken into custody | News
FLORENCE, AL (WAFF)- A suspect in a Florence pharmacy robbery has been taken into custody.
Tim's Discount Drugs on Helton Drive was robbed at gunpoint just before 11 a.m. The suspect got away with pills.
Florence High School was placed on lockdown as a precaution while police searched for the robber.
Police arrested John Steven Balentine and charged him with first degree robbery and trafficking illegal drugs. His bond was set at $75,000.
Investigators said Balentine's vehicle ran out of gas as he was running from police. Officers were able to catch up with him, and arrest Balentine.
