Florence Council Landfill resolution up for a vote | Environment
Title (Max 100 Characters)
A resolution to close the Florence Landfill will be up for a vote Tuesday night.
The resolution, sponsored by Councilmen Pendleton, Jordan, Morris and Betterton, will initiate the process of closing the solid waste cells at the landfill. The remaining space would be converted for disposal of construction waste and debris only.
The city would enter into a three-year contract with Waste Connections, Inc. to collect and dispose of residential and commercial solid waste in the amount of $27.58 per ton.
That fee would be paid from unbudgeted solid waste reserve funds.
City Council members will vote on the resolution at the 5 p.m. meeting Tuesday.
