Sport fishing survey underway

Muscle Shoals, AL (WAFF) - As spring comes creeping into the Tennessee Valley, anglers around Alabama are preparing to his the water. The Tennessee Valley Authority is working hard to make sure they've got something to catch.

TVA crews have been conducting their annual sport fish health surveys over the past week. They started at Wilson Reservoir in Muscle Shoals back on March 12th, and will continue through early May.

The fish are collected using electro-fishing equipment, which gives them a small but harmless shock. The stunned fish are collected, examined, and released back into the water.

Biologists are looking for species, abundance, age, weight and general health.
