Grand jury won't indict stabbing suspect | Crime
Florence, AL (WAFF) - A Lauderdale County man won't face charges in the stabbing death of his ex-girlfriend.
The grand jury dismissed charges against 21 year old Raymond Gibson Jr. last week.
Police say Gibson stabbed 20 year old Savannah Parrish to death last July during a scuffle at the Brush Creek Campgrounds, just outside Waterloo. Gibson maintained the stabbing was in self-defense, and the grand jury apparently agreed.
The District Attorney tells WAFF 48 that they respect the decision and consider the case closed unless any new information comes to light.
Gibson's legal woes are not over, though. In December, he was arrested after walking away from a work-release job he was doing as part of an unrelated burglary conviction.
