Florence Police warn about scams | Crime
The Florence Police Department has seen an increase in scam complaints over the last few months. Two particular scams have been reported in our area recently:
Utility Deparment Scam - This involves a person calling and identifying themselves as working for the Utility Department. They tell the person that their last check for their utility payment was not signed and ask for a credit card number to clear the account. The caller is not from the Utility Department and the Utility Department will NEVER ask for personal information over the phone. If a customer has a question about a call supposedly from Florence Utilities, please call our Customer Service Office at 256-760-6512.
Cloverdale Fire Department Scam - Calls have been received from people selling raffle tickets on behalf of the Cloverdale Fire Department. The Cloverdale Fire Department does not sell nor do raffles.
