Man critically injured in west Florence apartment fire

Man critically injured in west Florence apartment fire

One person was critically injured in an apartment fire in west Florence overnight.

It happened at some apartments at 1220 West College Street.

The cause of the fire is unknown and investigators are looking into what started it. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.

The man was taken to Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

UNA Junior Golf Camp gets kids in the game

The UNA Junior Golf Camp will take place this July and will introduce juniors to the game of golf and increase their golf skills in a fun and creative environment.

UNA Head Golf Coach Stuart Clark presents this camp along with PGA Professionals Jason Vaughn and Joel Gafford.

Where: Blackberry Trail Golf Course in Florence

When: July 11-14, ages 7-12; July 18-21, ages 13-18 (all skill levels welcome)

Cost: $100 per junior golfer (includes snack and drink)

DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST!

Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.

This notice is for customers of the City of Florence Water System. East Lauderdale, West Lauderdale and Killen areas.

Trees fall during storms

Shoals resident @JKMFilms posted this picture of a tree down in the drive thru at Chick-fil-a Thursday morning. Heavy storms caused damage in the Shoals. Lauderdale County EMA said about 15,000 people were without power.
